Hillary Supporter, Ivanka Defender: Lawyer Shocked By Partisan Vitriol

Jamie Gorelick worked in President Bill Clinton’s Justice Department, and supported Hillary Clinton’s run for president. Now the Wilmer Hale attorney works as an advisor to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, navigating nepotism and conflict-of-interest concerns related to the administration of President Donald Trump. When approached with the chance to advise the president’s daughter and son-in-law, both advisors to the new administration, “I did think twice about it,” Gorelick told Politico. “At the time, I was grieving for Hillary Clinton. This was not the transition I was contemplating working on – at all.” Gorelick also represented former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson in his confirmation and vetting process to become secretary of state. She admits to being “shocked” by the blowback from other Clinton supporters, many of whom have begun working against Trump.
