D.C. Wine Bars Sue Trump

The owners of a Washington, D.C. wine bar have sued President Donald Trump over his Trump International Hotel, saying that the fact that the hotel’s owner is one of the most powerful men in the world qualifies as unfair competition. Khalid Pitts and Diane Ross, owners of Cork Wine Bar, say the restaurant has seen “significantly less income” since Trump became president. They say that is because lobbyists, government officials, and anyone else seeking influence with the administration “feel pressure” to go to the Trump International Hotel. That isn’t hurt by the fact that Trump has been known to show up on the weekends. “[I]t seems to us to be a clear situation in which he’s using his office of the president to get a financial gain at the expense of local businesses.”
