South Carolina Boeing Workers Vote On Unionizing

This week, thousands of workers at Boeing’s South Carolina plant will vote on whether to join the International Association of Machinists (IAM). Workers previously tried to unionize in 2015, but the union cancelled the vote citing confusion among workers. “We think this is a facility where we don’t need a union,” said Joan Robinson-Berry, who leads Boeing’s local operation. Union organizer Mike Evans told NPR, “I know what my members are getting paid up in Everett and in St. Louis and in Huntsville, Ala. Is this good enough for you guys, or do you guys want a change?”
