New Risks To Construction Industry From Smart Technologies

A look at the risk that “smart” technologies are bringing to both the construction process and the finished construction itself. The benefits are many, but there are some unknowns. One issue, according to an insurance broker: Green technologies introduce “untested building materials into the mix,” and thus some potential liabilities. Less exotic risks include accidents caused by “multi-tasking,” in particular when one of the tasks happens to be driving a vehicle. Says an executive at one agency that works in the construction industry: The biggest cost issue they have at the moment is automobile claims resulting from distracted driving.
