Trump To Name Supreme Court Nominee

President Donald Trump plans to reveal his nominee to fill the Supreme Court’s empty seat on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in a prime time announcement from the White House. Trump’s pick, if confirmed, would fill the seat left empty after Justice Antonin Scalia died last year. His pick is “unbelievably highly respected,” Trump said. After Scalia’s death, former President Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to the bench, but Senate Republicans refused to hold hearings on that pick. CBS reports that among the likely choices are: federal appeals court Judge Neil Gorsuch; Alabama-based Judge Thomas Hardiman; and Alabama-based appeals court Judge William Pryor.
