Fake News Of Ginsburg Retirement Causes Stir

The Associated Press officially denounced a story that has been circulating since July, which falsely claims that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is retiring in protest of the election of Donald Trump. The story first appeared on news satire site therightist.com, which notes that not all its stories are true. But many websites picked up the story in December. In July, Ginsburg did tell AP she didn’t want to think about the possibility of a Trump presidency, “but if it should be, then everything is up for grabs.” She apologized for the comments later. The satire article falsely claims Ginsburg told AP, “I can tolerate this charade of a presidential campaign, but I could not live with him as president.”
