Protesters Storm Office Of AG Nominee Sessions

Six protesters from the NAACP staged a sit-in at the Mobile, Ala. offices of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to serve as U.S. attorney general. Civil rights groups have been outspoken in opposition to Sessions since his nomination was announced in November. They cite allegations of racism that ultimately derailed Sessions’ appointment to federal judgeship two decades ago. “We are asking the senator to withdraw his name for consideration as attorney general or for the president-elect, Donald Trump, to withdraw the nomination,” NAACP President Cornell Williams Brooks told CNN. The protesters live-streamed their sit-in via Facebook Live, before being arrested by police officers. They face charges of second-degree criminal trespass.
