2016’s Most Ridiculous Lawsuits

Consumers looking for more coffee in their lattes, more lip balm in their tube and less time to take the SATs all went to court this year. Those cases and more are highlighted in the Chamber of Commerce’s annual list of the year’s most ridiculous lawsuits. Starbucks fended off lawsuits from consumers who felt there was too much steamed milk in the lattes, and too much ice in the iced coffee. One Craigslist poster paid upwards of $30,000 to fight a man who bought his used printer for $40 and then sued when it didn’t work. A wildlife photographer battled animal rights activists who said he didn’t own the rights to a picture that a monkey took of itself. And a jury awarded $161,000 to a woman who was so engrossed in her cell phone that she walked into a ladder.
