Women Now Outnumber Men In Law School

For the first time, women outnumber men in ABA-accredited law programs, according to data from the Standard 509 Information Report. Women now make up 50.32 percent of law students at ABA accredited schools, according to an analysis by Deborah Merritt, professor at Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law. However, higher-ranked law schools still have a significantly smaller number of female law students. According to the report, JD enrollment in 2016 – 110,951 – was the lowest since the 1974-1975 year, when it was 105,708.
