Overseas privacy laws have become a big risk factor for corporate counsel at multinational companies, according to a post from global technology and services company Fronteo. “The risk of running afoul of the privacy laws in the name of compliance with a U.S. legal obligation is very real and often unanticipated,” writes Elizabeth Erickson. She suggests a number of ways the risk can be mitigated, and generally they have one thing in common: They require advance planning.
