“Los Pollos Hermanos” Artist Sues Breaking Bad Studio

Sony Pictures has been selling merchandise featuring the logo of fictional chicken joint Los Pollos Hermanos without permission, says artist Humberto Puentes-Segura. He claims the studio was only given permission to use his design for the fast-food restaurant as “a prop, set dressing, and/or wardrobe” for AMC series Breaking Bad. “Plaintiff did not, however, grant [Sony Pictures Consumer Products or Topanga Productions] or any other person or entity any ancillary rights in the Artwork, or the right to license, manufacture, distribute, or sell any merchandise bearing any reproduction of any portion of the Artwork.”
