Third Arrest In Murder Of FSU Law Prof

A third person has been arrested in connection with the murder-for-hire shooting of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel. In July 2014, Markel was shot outside his home in Tallahassee, and police are investigating whether the killing was related to Markel’s bitter divorce and custody battle. Neither Markel’s ex-wife, Wendi Adelson, nor any member of her family has been charged in the case, and they deny any connection to the murder. But police say their most recent arrestee, Katherine Magbanua, served as the messenger between the Adelson family, especially Wendi’s brother Charlie, and the two men arrested on murder charges. “Investigators believe that Magbanua is supported financially by Charlie Adelson and has received numerous benefits from the Adelsons since Markel’s murder,” the police report states.
