Judge Goes Viral With Acts Of Kindness

Two viral videos in the last month have catapulted Louisville judge Amber Wolf to internet fame, with millions responding to her acts of empathy and magnanimity. The first video, recorded July 29, show Wolf reacting with outrage toward jail administrators after a female defendant appeared disheveled in the courtroom and reported being denied feminine hygiene products. Then, on August 5, Wolf temporarily suspended a no-contact order to allow a defendant on trial for robbery to hold his newborn child for the first time. The Marshall Project interviewed the 34-year-old judge about her brush with fame. “[P]eople have a perception from television and the media that judges are cold and hard,” Wolf said. “And I don’t think that’s the truth. All judges are human beings under that robe. We think with both our heart and our head. It’s not a mutually exclusive thing.”
