Foul-Mouthed Parrot Admissible As Murder Witness?

An African parrot believed to have witnessed a murder is now repeating foul phrases that may be his owner’s last words. A prosecuting attorney in Michigan is considering whether it is acceptable to admit the phrases—most chillingly, “Don’t f—king shoot!”—as evidence in a court of law. Glenna Duram has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of her husband, Martin Duram. Family members believe the parrot witnessed the killing, and is now repeating Martin’s final words, in a voice mimicking the bird’s late owner. “I personally think he was there, and he remembers it and he was saying it,” said Martin’s father, Charles Duram.
