Execs: Cyber Attacks Not Our Problem

Nearly half of corporate executives felt that they were not responsible for cyber attacks, according to “Accountability Gap: Cybersecurity and Building a Culture of Responsibility,” a new study released by Tanium and the NASDAQ. More than 90 percent said they cannot read a cyber security report, and are not prepared to handle a major attack. The study surveyed 1,530 non-executive directors, C-level executives, Chief Information Officers, and Chief Information Security Officers from around the world, and found that a lack of understanding about cybersecurity might be a large factor in their disassociation. “Executives generally don’t feel they have an important role in information security, believing it to be a problem for their IT and security teams,” said Tanium Chief Security Officer David Damato.
