SCOTUS Abortion Arguments Aimed At Audience of One

When the Supreme Court hears arguments this week on its most significant abortion rights case in decades, both sides will be aiming their rhetoric at one man: Justice Anthony M. Kennedy. The Court will consider whether a Texas law placing restrictions on operating abortion clinics are too restrictive. Though Kennedy has upheld all but one abortion restriction that has come before him on the Court, he is the swing vote that abortion rights activists are hoping to win over. “The key is going to be whether Kennedy thinks this is broader than any restriction he’s seen,” David Cohen, a Drexel University law professor, told the Washington Post.
