Bankruptcy Judge Steamed Over 50 Cent’s Instagram

Rapper 50 Cent, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July, was called into court to explain recent photos he posted to Instagram, showing the rap star sitting on piles of money, and spelling out “BROKE” with stacks of cash. Bankruptcy Judge Ann Nevins said the pictures cast doubt on the veracity of the financial status of the 40-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III. “There’s a purpose of having a bankruptcy process be transparent, and part of that purpose is to inspire confidence in the process,” she said. Jackson owes $7 million in a sex-tape lawsuit, and roughly $18 million to a mortgage lender and a partner in a failed headphone deal. Jackson’s lawyers said the court is “intentionally [ignoring]” that 50 Cent “must maintain his brand and image.”
