Obama Budget Pledges $19B To Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity efforts are a major point of emphasis in the Obama administration’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2017, released this week. The budget pledged more than $19 billion to cybersecurity efforts, a more than 35 percent increase over last year, and would use $3.1 billion to replace outdated federal computer systems that are vulnerable to hackers. The $4.1 trillion budget would also establish the Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity, and plans to invest $62 million in programs to address the shortage of workers in the field of cybersecurity.
