Lost Key Just Pretext For Firing Says Walmart Pharmacist, Wins $31M

According to the plaintiff in a discrimination and retaliation case, Walmart’s claim that she was fired because she lost a pharmacy key was just a pretext. A jury agreed, and she was awarded $31.22 million. The woman said that a male employee who also lost a pharmacy key was not fired, only disciplined, and that she was dismissed in retaliation for having raised concerns about inadequate staff training that led to improper prescription work. Walmart said the facts do not support the decision and it would ask the judge to throw out the verdict or reduce the damages.
