Many Amendments Proposed, Few Ratified

More than 10,000 amendments to the U.S. Constitution have been proposed, but very few even make it into the ratification process. Among the proposals – abolishing the Senate, abolishing divorce, a post-prohibition attempt to “abolish drunkenness in the U.S. and all its territories,” and a vaguely hippie-sounding idea that was actually proposed in 1893, renaming the U.S.A. “The United States of the Earth.”
