Yes, In-House Salaries Are Up

A survey of surveys from LexisNexis finds similar conclusions: In-house salaries are up. At the same time though, attorneys are being asked to do more work, and to some extent different work. Pay for in-house attorneys with ten or more years experience is up 3.4 percent, according to one survey, which also makes specific projections about about in-house salary ranges for 2016. Another survey, conducted in 2015 but looking back a year, pegged average GC salaries at more than $300K. That study also ranked GC pay based on industry and found entertainment, media, lodging and restaurants topped the list, with total compensation at more than $500,000.
