Nordstrom Pays $4M For Fake ‘Made In USA’ Label

Retail giant Nordstrom and denim manufacturer AG will pay out $4 million to settle a class action accusing them of falsely labeling jeans “Made in the USA.” The class action was filed in California, under that state’s Made in USA law, which is much stricter than the federal standard. The Californian law will be loosened as of January 2016, too late for Nordstrom’s October settlement. “Do not expect Made in USA litigation to slow down as competitors and class action groups are likely to continue to targeting manufacturers, retailers, and their competitors through Made in USA litigation,” Arent Fox writes in an alert.
