AT&T Claims Net Neutrality Thwarted Planned Services

Ahead of its appeal looking to overturn the FCC’s new net neutrality rules, which will begin this week, AT&T has “paused plans to offer some new services,” a senior vice president of the company said. At the Phoenix Center’s Annual US Telecoms Symposium, Bob Quinn said that AT&T has 15 lawyers working to determine how the company’s new ventures, such as a new streaming program, would or would not violate the FCC’s new Open Internet Order. “We’ve had to shelve a bunch of stuff because we’ve got to wait and see,” Quinn said. The company previously threatened that it would “pause” investments in fiber networks as a result of new net neutrality rules.
