Some Big Firms Are Doing Commodity Work, And Cheap

Among the firms that have established separate services for “low-end” work are Littler Mendelson and Fenwick & West, says an article in the ABA Journal. Their services are similar. Both take on “document-heavy, repetitive legal work while keeping fees low by using flex-time attorneys and technology.” It may be a reaction to the fact that companies are reducing their reliance on outside counsel and using fewer firms – now down to an average of 36 compared to 47 just a year ago, according to one recent survey.
