Challenges To Class Actions On Supreme Court Docket

Big business has a lot at stake in cases before the Supreme Court in the new term that begins this week. Three major class action disputes are scheduled for oral arguments, along with challenges to the regulation of electricity markets and the jurisdictional reach of civil racketeering laws. The class action challenges have the potential to “really hammer” what has traditionally been a tool for consumers, Paul Bland, spokesman for advocacy group Public Justice, told Reuters.
