Troll Insurance For A Novel Target: Advertisers

The Association of National Advertisers has launched an insurance product that is intended to protect national advertisers from infringement claims against some common practices, such as the use of QR codes to direct a mobile device user to web content and methods for putting a store locator on a website. “Patent trolls have been a growing issue for in the advertising industry in recent years, costing advertisers and agencies millions of dollars in fees in order to avoid paying even more to defend themselves in court,” says the president and CEO of the ANA. The insurance will help cover the cost of a defense.
