Uber Ramps up Cyber Security

Facing threats of privacy attacks and hackers, and even physical threats on its drivers and customers, Uber plans to expand its security team to about 100 employees. In April, the ride-sharing company appointed former federal prosecutor of cyber crime, and most recently Facebook’s cyber security head, Joe Sullivan as chief security officer. That followed the company’s admission in February that the personal information of about 50,000 drivers had been accessed in a data breach. “Every company is a data company now,” Sullivan said. “[N]o one can be unsophisticated.”
