Junior Lawyers Rip Off Law Firm

For months, two junior lawyers in Bothwell Bracker plotted to abandon the boutique firm, taking thousands of pages of records and big-win bonuses with them. After winning a False Claims Act case last year, Partner Mike Bothwell gave non-equity partner Julie Bracker and associate Jason Marcus $400,000 and $250,000 bonuses, respectively. Upon return from a holiday weekend, Bothwell discovered that Bracker and Marcus had gutted the firm of sensitive records, uploading 10,000 e-books onto the firm’s computers in order to overwrite the deleted files and making it impossible for a forensic expert to recover them, according to a lawsuit Bothwell filed. The suit also claims Bracker and Marcus wooed clients to their new firm while still receiving paychecks from Bothwell Bracker.
