Surprise Vote By Newly Appointed Liberal Judge In CA

Many anticipated that California Gov. Jerry Brown’s new appointees to the state’s Supreme Court would form a liberal voting bloc among the justices, but an early test suggests there may be some surprises. Analysts had expected Justices Mariano-Florentino Cuellar and Leondra R. Kruger to form a liberal majority, but Kruger sided with conservative justices in a case about who must register as a sex offender. However, appellate lawyer Paul Fogel said that vote was “just too small a sample on which to base a meaningful conclusion.”
