Tough Challenges Await New AG Loretta Lynch

After waiting months to be confirmed, Loretta Lynch was voted in by a 56-43 Senate vote to serve as U.S. Attorney General. She will face some difficult challenges when she begins work on Monday,. Among them will be confronting the issues of police brutality against African-Americans and widespread distrust of the police without alienating the law enforcement community “Throughout my career as a prosecutor, it has been my honor to work hand in hand with dedicated law enforcement officers and agents who risk their lives every day in the protection of the communities we all serve,” Lynch told the Senate Judiciary Committee in January. “Few things have pained me more than the recent reports of tension and division between law enforcement and the communities we serve.”
