NY Lawyer Charged In Scheme To Purchase Maxim Magazine

New York lawyer Harvey Newkirk, formerly with law firm Bryan Cave, was charged with conspiracy, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. His lawyer confirmed the charges were related to the case of Calvin Darden Jr., son of a former UPS executive, who was alleged to have impersonated his father and to have provided false information in a scheme to obtain $8 million as part of an attempt to buy Maxim magazine. Darden pleaded guilty to wire fraud in November.
