State AGs Step In To Protect Customer Data In RadioShack Sale

As the auction got underway this week for bankrupt tech retailer RadioShack, state attorneys general have stepped up to promise that consumer data will be protected. A RadioShack lawyer has assured the judge in this case that customer data is not included in the sale, but concerns linger as the retailer has solid data on more than 117 million shoppers. One potential outcome would be an online retail business, in which case consumer data would be particularly useful. Texas AG Ken Paxton filed an objection, saying he would target any personal data of Texans sold in the sale process.
