Legal Pot A Workplace Conundrum In D.C.

In the wake of a landslide victory for marijuana legalization in Washington, D.C., employers there are now trying to figure out what they can establish in the way of drug policies. An emergency measure in D.C. prevents employers from requiring drug testing of prospective employees before extending job offers, but employers still have the right to enforce their own parameters for anyone on payroll. Many questions remain, and the law also does not apply to federal employees. Employment experts are eagerly watching an ongoing Colorado case that could become an important precedent in this area.
