Warming Cuba Relations Will Trigger Trademark Disputes

The Cuban embargo prohibits most commerce between the two countries, but provides for a general license that allows nationals of either country to register, prosecute or oppose a patent, trademark or copyright. As the embargo is loosened trademark disputes, especially between Cuban nationals and south Floridians of Cuban descent, are likely to arise. It will take new regulations and possibly statutes to resolve them.
