Microsoft, Google Allied Against Hotel Chain WiFi Interference

Tech giants and frequent competitors Google and Microsoft are joining forces to ask the FCC to reject the efforts of hotel chains to block customers who want to use personal Wi-Fi hot spots rather than pay for hotel Internet connections. The American Hospitality and Lodging Association has petitioned the FCC for the right to use jamming technology to block personal Wi-Fi signals, claiming it protects guests from getting hacked on “rogue” hotspots. Google and Microsoft both asked the FCC to strike down the petition, saying such efforts would interfere with “authorized radio communications.”
