’14 Bar Takers “Less Able” Than Last Year

The group of potential lawyers who sat for the Multistate Bar Exam in July 2014 were simply “less able” than the group who took the test in 2013, President of the National Conference of Bar Examiners Erica Moeser said in a memo. Nationwide, test scores from the Multistate Bar Exam in July 2014 were nearly three points lower than national mean for 2013, the largest year-to-year drop the test has ever seen. Brooklyn Law School Dean Nicholas Allard was not pleased by that assessment, saying that suggesting the 2014 group was less able than the prior year “ring[s] hollow.”
