Native Americans Join Call For FCC To Fine Redskins Owner

A petition calling for the FCC not to renew the broadcast license for Washington, D.C. NFL team owner Dan Snyder got the backing of three Native American radio listeners who claim they have experienced harm from hearing the team name, “Redskins,” repeated on the air. The Native American petitioners work at WWXX (94.3 FM) in Prince William County outside D.C., but the chief executive of Red Zebra Broadcasting, which owns the radio station, has rejected the petition on First Amendment grounds.
