U.S. Attorney May Investigate Cuomo Administration Over Cancelled Anti-Corruption Probe

The U.S. attorney in Manhattan, Preet Bharara, is threatening to investigate the Cuomo administration for possible obstruction of justice or witness tampering. The threat comes after New York governor Andrew Cuomo, in March, cancelled an anti-corruption probe tasked with looking into corruption in state politics – in response, the New York Times has alleged, to the commission’s investigating groups with close ties to his administration. Some commission members have defended Cuomo and maintained there was no interference with the commission, but unnamed sources who spoke to the Times say those comments may have been prompted by calls from Cuomo or his supporters.
