Robert H. Benmosche Stepping Down At AIG

The American International Group has named a successor to chief executive Robert H. Benmosche. A.I.G. said that its board had picked Peter D. Hancock, the head of its property casualty business, to take over as chief executive, and director, on Sept. 1. Benmosche will also resign from the board. Once the chief executive of MetLife, Benmosche came out of retirement in 2009 to turn around A.I.G. and repay the federal government’s $182 billion bailout.
