Google: Predominately White, Male

Most employees at Google are white men, the company revealed when it released a workplace census. More than two-thirds of the Internet giant’s employees are men, and 60 percent are white, the survey showed. The gender disparity was even more pronounced among company leadership, with women making up just 21 percent of those positions. “Put simply, Google is not where we want to be when it comes to diversity,” Google’s Senior Vice President of People Operations Laszlo Bock said in a blog post. Block added that tech companies like Google struggle to recruit and retain minority employees, and he said the company is focusing on emphasizing computer science education for girls and women, and at historically black colleges and universities.
