GM Lawyers Taking Heat In Ignition Investigation

After reported ignition switch failures, the company made changes in the part but not the parts number and tried to keep the problem under wraps, according to a New York Times account. Company lawyers are said to be singled out in an internal report, headed by former U.S. attorney Anton R. Valukas, for their actions in the past several months. Meanwhile, the company has agreed to pay a $35 million penalty and investigations by several agencies, including the Justice Department and the SEC, are ongoing.
