Nevada’s Supreme Court, With No Intermediate Appeals Court, Is Swamped

Nevada’s court system functions without an intermediate appeals court, which had led to some cases languishing in the system for years. The state’s Supreme Court must review any appeal, cramming the docket with less consequential cases. A proposal to create an intermediate appeals court – which would cost about $1.5 million – will be on the ballot for Nevada voters this fall, but the public’s distrust of government is makes it a a hard sell.
