Asian Lawyers Driving Firm Diversity

The number of black and Hispanic associates has been in decline, but increasing numbers of Asian lawyers helped boost the percentage of minority associates in law firms to 21 percent in 2013, up from 19.5 percent in 2010. About 50 percent of minorities in law firms last year were Asian.The diversity numbers overall drop dramatically when you look farther up the ladder. At the partner level, just seven percent are minorities, with Asians at 2.67 percent, and black and Hispanics each below two percent.
