NSA Hires Rebecca Richards As First Civil Liberties And Privacy Officer

The National Security Agency has hired Rebecca Richards as its first civil liberties and privacy officer, a move made in response to global outrage after Edward Snowden revealed the extent of the agency’s surveillance efforts. Richards comes to the NSA from the Department of Homeland Security, where she held a similar position.
