Rap Group Sues DOJ, FBI For Classifying Fans As Violent Gang

Fans of rap group the Insane Clown Posse may be notorious for wearing face-paint and partying hard, but the Justice Department and the FBI have no basis to declare them criminal gang members, the group said in a lawsuit filed this week. The group’s fans, known as “Juggalos,” were on the FBI’s 2011 National Gang Intelligence Center report, classified as “a loosely organized hybrid gang.” The report cited two incidents in which “suspected” juggalos were charged with violent crimes, including beating a and robbing an elderly homeless man. In their lawsuit, ICP and the ACLU say it is unfair to classify a large group of people on the basis of misdeeds of a few.
