Consider Internal Issues Before Litigating IP

IP litigation is resource intensive and a potential distraction from the revenue-generating business, and should not be entered into lightly. The first and most basic considerations are how much the IP is worth and whether there really has been infringement, but there are others. What does the company hope to accomplish? Does it want to impose an injunction, or collect damages? Does it want to drive the other party out of business, or have them pay royalties?
