Artist May Sue Actor Shia LaBeouf For Plagiarized Film

Not placated by a series of apologetic tweets, artist Daniel Clowes is considering legal action against actor Shia LaBeouf, whose short film “HowardCountour.com,” is a nearly word-for-word adaptation of Clowes’ 2007 short comic “Justin M. Damiano.” LaBeouf took to Twitter to say he “got lost in the process” and neglected to credit Clowes, but added that “being inspired by someone else’s idea to produce something new and different IS creative work.” That argument may not fly if Clowes pursues legal charges, especially since the language of the Tweet itself appears to be lifted from a discussion on Yahoo! Answers.
