Infosys Fined $34M For Visa Infractions

Indian technology outsourcing firm Infosys has been saddled with a $34 million fine after federal regulators found the company falsified business invitation letters and instructed foreign workers to lie to immigration officials. Infosys was found to have used B-1 business visitor visas to bring thousands of employees to the U.S. to work, instead of the more appropriate – and expensive – H-1B visa, and to have made extensive errors in company records that kept thousands of employees working after their visas had expired.
