Hi-Tech Production Is Tipping To Mexico

More companies are opting to set up some or all of their manufacturing in Mexico, often as an alternative to China. Among the reasons cited are faster ramp-up times and quicker responsiveness to design and order changes. According to a report from Boston Consulting Group, a tipping point may have been reached last year when some kinds of manufacturing, adjusted for productivity, became cheaper in Mexico than they are in China. Improvements in Mexico’s education system are said to be one contributing factor.
