Paper Records Still Critical to Discovery

The paperless office has proven to be a myth. Despite the explosion of digital information, businesses continue to generate massive amounts of paper. Meanwhile, current litigation can spawn discovery requirements that go back years. Companies need to remain attentive to retention and storage policies – and enforce them, something that only about half of Fortune 1000 companies do adequately, according to a trade group survey. It may be time for the legal department to initiate a company-wide upgrade.
